This past weekend the MCHS Jazz 1 Band traveled to compete in the 2024 National Jazz Festival in Philadelphia and we had amazing results.
- MCHS Jazz Band finished FIRST place in the L-1 Large Ensemble Category
- Ewan McPhee (12th grade – trumpet) won the 2024 National Jazz Festival Outstanding Musician for the MCHS Jazz 1 Band & Outstanding Musician award in the large ensemble division
- Miles McPhee (12th grade – saxophone) was selected to be in the National Jazz Festival Diplomat (All-Star) Band directed by Wayne Tucker.
Huge thank you to Mr. Carlson for all his hard work preparing the students for this moment. Thank you to all of our parent volunteers/chaperones, especially Carolyn Mukai and Lana Imbagliazzo, for planning this awesome trip for our students. Congratulations to all of the MCHS Jazz 1 students on placing 1st on a national level.
